What is chlorophyll?

Tests are also scheduled to investigate how a diet rich in chlorophyll could affect the risk of colon cancer. Food such as spinach and persil will have increased consumption of green leafy plants.

However, a 2019 feasibility study Trusted Source found that adherence to such a diet was lower than expected, with participants meeting guidelines only 73.2 percent of the time.

4. Weight loss

Weight-loss support is one of the most common claims for fluid chlorophyll. However, there is currently very little research into this topic.

In a survey of 38 participating women in 2014, the weight loss was once a day greater for those taking a green plant membrane supplement that included chlorophyll than a group who did not receive the supplement.

The scientists proposed that the supplement decreased unhealthy levels of cholesterol. It is currently unclear if the mechanism behind these results includes chlorophyll.

5. A natural deodorant

Chlorophyllin has been used for neutralizing such smells since the 1940s, but tests are obsolete and have shown mixed results.

There is no evidence to support the arguments about chlorophyllin that reduces bad breath.

What are the risks?

Natural chlorophyll is not considered harmfull. However, there are some potential side effects, including:

  • digestive problems
  • diarrhea
  • green, yellow, or black stool, which can be mistaken for gastrointestinal bleeding
  • itching or burning, when applied topically

The effects of chlorophyll in pregnant women or breastfeeding women have not been studied by researchers.

Your best source of chlorophyll will come from veggies and herbs that are green, inside and out.

Veggies such as broccoli and Asparagus may be green outside, but a lesser amount of chlorophyll is shown by their whitish interior.

Wheatgrass has chlorophyll-related benefits
